The Coast takes the edge on power, knocking out up to 196 lumens. There are few that can match it on outright power, if it’s all out power you’re after you should take a closer look at the Coast.

As far as reputation, design, and looks go, these two are neck-and-neck. The extra power isn’t going to make a huge difference, I’d take a close look at the two of these and decide on which one really takes your fancy.

A lot of people have trouble figuring out how to open the battery compartment. The design does not make it easy to figure out, but it’s simple when you know how of course. The easiest way to access the batteries is to turn the headlamp upside down, then use your thumb to prise open the edge of the compartment.

The battery housing pivots down and doesn’t actually come away from the main unit. You have to be quite gentle with it not to break the clips, but once you’ve done this once it will make sense.
