This Coleman Bottle Top Stove offers campers a convenient, portable, and powerful stove. With its one burner 10,000 BTU burner, you have the power to cook everything you’d want, while being nice and portable.
It comes with a very affordable price tag, which has helped this Coleman model to become very popular. It has the advantage of being a Coleman product, a name synonymous with quality when it comes to camping stoves.
Why do I love this one? Because it’s easy and small. You can just tuck it in the car and always have a backup to your two burner if needed.
Setup and Design Features
The beauty of this stove is how easy it is to set up. You have a large base to help spread out the weight, the propane tank sits in the base forming the body, and the burner attaches on the top.
The Coleman Bottle Top uses Coleman’s PerfectFlow pressure-control system and PerfectHeat technology. A system unique to Coleman stoves and grills, making their stoves as fuel-efficient and reliable as possible, operating just as good in cold and windy weather conditions.

The manufacturer specifications state that the stove will burn for 2.2 hours on a high heat, and up to 9 hours on a low heat. Very respectable times, and testament to the PerfectFlow regulator valve control. You’ll be able to boil a quart of water in under four minutes too, which is a decent time for a stove of this size and price.
The bowl is large enough to support an 8” pan, so you’ll have plenty of pots and pans in your itinerary. While cooking, the pot has a small shield against wind. You might need to help break some of the wind in heavy conditions, but it has a strong flame and feedback is positive about using this stove in most conditions.
This is one of the more affordable single burner stoves. It costs a lot less than most of the 2 burner camping stoves out there like the Stansport or Everest but still packs enough power to cook a full meal. It compares well to the camp chef butane 1 burner stoves, but with a little more utility and ease of packing.
Although this stove isn’t typically used for a hardcore backpacker, you could use it for backpacking. I know that when I was younger, and before I was a gear nut, I carried all sorts of super heavy stuff in my pack because I didn’t have the money or knowledge to buy the right tool for the job.
Pretty cool I have this site now to help those that might be going through the same challenges. But I digress……
The quality is unquestionable, carrying the Coleman name you know you can rely on it. The large, high power burner is good for most cooking requirements, all-in-all it’s a very solid choice. Prices range from $20 to $40.
- Uses PerfectFlow technology for a consistent performance
- You can fit an 8” pan
- 10,000 BTU cooking power
- Large stable base gives decent support
- 3 year manufacturer limited warranty
- May not balance perfectly for large/wide pots/pans
- It can be hard to hold a simmer
- Not the best stove for backpacking
This stove is great as a backup too, in case your main stove fails. It doesn’t take up much room in the car or boat and can jump into use at a moment’s notice. If you are having issues balancing a large pans, try burying the base or piling rocks around for extra support.
