Camp Chef Expedition 3x 3 Burner Stove Review
The Camp Chef Expedition 3x 3 Burner Stove is Camp Chef’s biggest, most powerful stand alone camping stove. It comes equipped with 3 x 30,000 BTU burners, which means each burner produces around three times the heat of the burners you’ll find on kitchen stoves in the home.
These facts alone give you a good impression of what this stand alone stove is capable of – cooking anything you can cook at home while being outdoors. Add to this the ease of setting the stove up, how quick it fires up, and the easy to use controls. Giving you a fun, easy cooking experience wherever you are.
The Expedition 3×3 Burner Stove comes with a professional flat top griddle, three-sided windscreen, utensil and paper towel holders, regulator and 3ft hose, and removable/adjustable legs.
With all of these features and by just shear size, you might consider this in the Glamping category. Although it would fit a glamping trip it also would be great on any trip where extra size is important. It is quick and easy to set up, the griddle is easy to clean and the grease drain helps collect excess grease for disposal.
Setup and Design Features
There is very little to assemble with the Camp Chef Expedition, when you first unpack it you’ll have it up and ready in a few minutes. This is what people have come to expect from stand alone stoves, and the Expedition is very straight forward even if you have never used a outdoor stove before. If you are new to camping and need a little primer on how to have a good trip check out this article.
It is surprising how much more you can do with the three burners as opposed to two like a lot of other models, such as the Camp Chef Explorer reviewed here. Cooking an additional food type, or stir-frying while boiling some water and cooking is a lifesaver with larger groups of people.

The easy to use knobs make controlling a simmer easy, or balancing the heat of different foods just as easy. With a three-sided windscreen you can protect the flame while cooking outside, and with the utensil and paper towel holders you can keep the cooking area clear of clutter. Prices for the Camp Chef Expedition range from $260 to $400.
Dimensions – The Camp Chef Expedition has a 24” x 18” griddle, with an overall cooking area of 608” Sq. The cooking height is 31” and there is some room for adjustment with the legs.
The Pros

Insider Tips
The Camp Chef Expedition does not come with a carry bag, so I recommend you pick one up if you do not already have a suitable bag. It is important for you to protect the stove when travelling, it is all too easy to damage a knob or scratch the griddle when not covered.

Hi
I have an expedition 3x. It is rated at 90,000 BTU/Hr. I understand this to mean the 1 burner is capable of producing 30,000 per hour. My question is, if the burner is set to its lowest setting , what is the minimum BTU it will produce, also, is there a difference between BTU per Hr and BTU?
The reason I am asking is I hope to pressure can vegetables in my garage. The pressure canner said don’t use an LP stove with a BTU of greater than 12000 BTU.
Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
Thank you
Greg
