Weber Spirit vs Genesis: Which Model Is Better for You?

Weber Spirit vs Genesis

In this article I’m looking at two of the best propane grill ranges on the market. The Weber Spirit vs Genesis range of grills.

Weber shouldn’t need any introduction. If you enjoy the outdoors you will almost certainly have used some Weber gear or know someone who has.

Weber literally invented the kettle grill and have been at the forefront of technology when it comes to grills, stoves, other outdoor/camping gear, and so on for more than 50 years.

So, it’s no surprise that their Spirit and Genesis lines are hugely popular and deliver on quality of build just as well as they help you look like a chef by helping you cook awesome food.

Each model has some small differences but the main difference being the size of the grill. The higher the model number the larger the grill, for example:

  • The Spirit E310 model has 529 square inches of cooking space.
  • The Genesis E210 model has 380 square inches of cooking space.
  • The Genesis E310 model has 513 square inches of cooking space.

Build Quality and Price

The Spirit’s are the less expensive of the two ranges. This is mainly due to the Spirits being constructed with a lower grade of stainless steel and missing a few of the smaller touches and features.

It’s still stainless steel however, and the look and feel of both grills are unmistakably Weber. They look smooth, modern, everything just fits together well and are still clearly a grade above some of the budget options out there.

Some of the Genesis models have a side burner too which is great for warming and cooking side dishes. It’s worth remembering that all Weber grills come with a 10-year guarantee.

A Look at the Spirit E310 vs the Genesis E310

The most popular models from each range is the E310’s. They cook for 5-7 people easily, have enameled cast iron cooking grates, side trays, storage hooks, and lots of other useful features.

The real difference here is that the Genesis models are a little more expensive than the Spirits and that’s usually the deciding factor.

So, Which Range Is Best for You – the Genesis or Spirit?

There is enough of a difference in price to swing you one way or the other if you’re sticking to a budget. So, I recommend checking out the latest prices via the link above if that’s your first consideration.

Outside of price you don’t have to be concerned about the quality. I’ve used a number of Weber grills and other items and they always more than live up to their excellent reputation.

So, it really comes down to how seriously you take your grilling, how often you intend on using your grill, your budget, and if any of the extra features catch your eye.

If you’re going to be using your grill frequently I recommend choosing one from the Genesis range that has the cooking space you need and they are the better grills overall.

The Genesis’ have more power too which is always a good thing, as well as side burners on some models which makes preparing sauces and side dishes easy.

Feel free to share any experiences you’ve had with any of the grills mentioned in this article to help others with their decisions, thanks.
